As most of students begin online money making adventures, you will most likely come across a program called Google AdSense countless times. Google AdSense is one of the most popular ways to make money online but what exactly is it?
- It is a large share of income for Google. In Q2 2012, Google reportedly made $3.13 billion, or roughly 27% of their total revenue.
- Publishers receive 68% of the total revenue and Google 32%.
- It is 100% free to be a publisher of Google ads.
- It is by far the most reliable form of advertising on the internet today.
While many people who use Google AdSense will ultimately fail, it is for one reason alone... effort. It is not easy to create a website or blog and put in the necessary hours to make it unique and something that people will want to read. However, once you find that one thing you are passionate about, creating a website will seem less like a side job and more like a hobby and something exciting. If you can get to a point where you care more about updating your website with interesting content, and less about making money, then you will most likely succeed and make a great deal of money through AdSense.
While some of the top publishers in the world earn near a million dollars a year with AdSense, don't expect to be making that much right off the get go. Those users took years of trial and error to determine what works and what doesn't. I can also guarantee you that those people care more about engaging their users than creating income for themselves. However, as a new user, I can say with confidence that you can make yourself a few hundred dollars if you do the work and have a great website that people want to visit.

While you can make nearly $200 a month with a simple blog, if you were to scale up and create a few more targeted blogs you could definitely make a lot more money. As a teen or college student looking to make some money online, it is entirely possible to make a cheap website/blog based on anything you desire, build backlinks and perform some search engine optimization. Best of luck to you and don't ever give up.

How to use links the right way....

1) Links should never say, Click Here, they should be 2-5 words at most. They should relate to, what's on the other side of the link, IE: (You can to learn, Play Just like the pro's, You can download Her Naughty Picture etc.).
2) Your link should STAND out, Should have different colors for (active, visited, hover)
3) Home page links should be pragmatic, (Dealing with things sensible and realistically)
4) Don't make your readers guess where they have to go, Have them know, that if they click that link, it will take them to the page the link is telling them.
5) Make links go from general too specific.
6) Use your log files to see what your users are searching for, then use the most commonly used words for your links.
7) Use title tags to help your users know where they are going.
( title = Anchor text )
8) Try and use a first person approach. IE: (I want you to go_______________.)
9) Don't force a new window to open when your user clicks a link. They know how to use their back button.

10) This is by far is the most important lesson, TEST YOUR LINKS. Once you're finished writing your links, test them in different browsers. Make sure they go where you want them to go and there are no broken links. Dead links or links going to the wrong section can cause you to lose a lot of money.

If you want your website to be noticed, you have to get on Google. And if you want to get on Google, you have to make yourself as visible as possible to them and their web crawlers. Then of course once you're on, you're going to want make sure you stay there.
Getting and staying on Google can be broken down into three easily remembered stages -
Anyone who maintains their own website, be it for business or pleasure, should at least be aware that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a thing, even if they might not really understand it.
They also need to know that it comes in two flavors: on-site and off-site, and taking care of the on-site SEO while building your website is paramount if you want it to get on Google.
On-site SEO includes everything that you can set yourself, either behind the scenes or for public consumption; quality content with relevant keywords, page titles, Google text snippets, URLs, H1 or H2 headings, correctly tagged images, outbound links, and having a sitemap.
All of these will affect your Google rank, although some (content and titles) carry more weight than others (alt tags on images).
As the name suggests, off-site SEO covers everything you can do in other places online to improve your own SEO and help you to get on Google.
One metric used by Google to measure your ranking is the quality of your inbound links; that is, links from other places directing people to your site.
The practice of link building has long been a big part of any SEO campaign, although the focus has now shifted to the subtly different but more interpersonal practice of link earning.
Advisable ways of earning the high quality links that help you to get on Google include reaching out to bloggers and asking them to link to your best content, or offer to write a guest post with a link back to your site. Leaving useful, non-generic comments on relevant blog posts with a link back to your site also works, as does being active and respected on a forum that allows you to display your web address in your signature or in posts.
Building a community on social media is another great way to improve the engagement with your content, if you can encourage your audience to share it directly from your site.
While on and off-site SEO practices help you to get on Google, the ubiquitous search engine also takes into account the freshness of your website and its content.
It makes sense; after all, Google wants you to keep using its service, so strives to give the most relevant, freshest results it can. Stale websites get punished by falling in the rankings.
Even if most of your website's pages are static and don't change, there are ways to maintain a steady stream of new content. The most common is a regular blog, with the opportunity for people to comment on the posts.
Depending on the nature of your site, running a forum is also a possibility and helps with the fresh posts and interaction that Google values so highly.
Being found through organic search engine results is vital to your business, and that means one thing: you have to get on Google.

By following the three key stages of building, engaging and staying fresh, you'll give yourself the best of chance of both getting and staying there.

Google is used by billions of people every day to find a variety of information on the Internet. However, how many of us really use all the Google features to the full? It is easy to learn little things to help you find the desirable results faster and more precisely.
Google is extremely good at finding the information you need, but with more specific search phrases you can get much better results. Using operators such as quotations marks - "like that" - or enclosing search phrases or using a minus, which will, exclude the keyword from your search, for example (bread recipe - flour). By using 'OR', you will prompt Google to give you a choice, e.g. Football Cup 2012 or 2014.

Google gives you the choice to restrict your search to a single site. For example, if you are looking for Editorial Guidelines on the EzineArticles site, simply type 'editorial guidelines site:EzineArticles.com'.
From the time to time, we all struggle with the meaning of words and need to find an exact definition. In this case, using the operator 'define' comes in handy. Using 'Define:word' gives you the dictionary definition of the desired word with its synonyms.
Sometimes you may want to look for a similar site to one you already use, in this scenario the operator 'related' comes in handy. For example, 'related:bbc.com' gives you some of the sites for rivals of the BBC or their sister sites.
Google search is built to simplify the ability to find the right application for your Smartphone. By clicking on more>Apps at the top of result page, you will get a list of available applications. This function is particularly handy for Android users.
Find out what others are searching for in your country. Simply type 'Google.com/trends' in your browser to find the latest trends in music, TV or movies.
By skipping any search criteria and clicking on 'I'm feeling lucky' Google will take you to its selection of doodles graphically divided with logos corresponding to important dates.
With simple prompts such as 'weather', you will get the current seven-day forecast for your location. By adding the name of any city or town you want, you can get a forecast for a different location. If you ever need to know the time somewhere else on the globe, just type 'time New York' for example, to see the time at that location. For many people knowing the times of sunrise and sunset is very important, to know when sun is coming up in London, type 'sunrise London'. To check stock information promptly; use 'GOOG' to find out latest Google stock status.
