CAPTCHA, which stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart," requires people to enter a randomized code in order to submit an online form. The randomized code is often in the form of distorted, wiggly, or otherwise hard (but not impossible) to read lettering. Spam bots - the automatic email generators favored by today's sophisticated spammers - can't read the randomized code so they can't submit the form.

By itself, this will eliminate a lot of spam. But the decision has to be weighed against with other concerns, such as making it easy for site visitors to contact you. If, like most companies, you decide to include email addresses on your website, install PrivateDaddy. This free, open-source software hides your email address from spam bots while still making it visible to humans. Some web platforms, such as WordPress, even come with a plugin you can install.

·         Turn off comments on your blog
Again, not an easy decision. But like leaving your email address off your website, it can help to reduce spam in the right situations. If you have a very active community of readers who post a lot of legitimate responses, the value of that community will outweigh the inconvenience of any spam that comes through. On the other hand, if you tend to get a small amount of random comments, chances are that many of them will be spam. Turning off comments will eliminate spammers' ability to get through using your blog.

When you subscribe to a newsletter, blog, or other form of online communications, you give that business or organization permission to contact you via email. You may not want to receive what they send you, but technically it isn't spam. So they can - and will - send you stuff until you tell them to stop.

Whatever service your business offers, it’s crucial to have an effective website and social media presence. Hone your digital skills with these top tipsfor online marketing The early stages of marketing your business can be a bit of a minefield. How can you promote yourself when at this stage there’s not much to promote? At the same time, how will there ever be anything to promote unless you generate a buzz?

Assuming you have a website up and running, make sure your URL is always visible everywhere. Put it on your letterheads, business cards, in email signatures. Go one step further and have it on any promotional items and transport. Anything that reminds people to visit your website on a daily basis.

Don’t engage with social media as an afterthought. Steven Mendel is CEO of Bought By Many, the company that helps people club together via social media to get a better insurance deal. He says it’s crucial to put social media at the heart of your business model from the start. “Use it to drive your business, find out what customers want and give them exactly what they want.”

3. Utilize Facebook
Use targeted advertising on Facebook to drive sales. “Facebook is the richest source of data about consumers in existence,” says Mendel, “and its tools for advertisers are getting better every day. Big companies still think social media is all about brand and do very little on Facebook other than dull corporate posts and mediocre competitions.” Capitalise on this.

If you're not going to work evenings and weekends, don't bother. Your potential customers are liking and sharing and tweeting 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. If you start engaging with social media you need to stick with it. Don’t respond to customers after the weekend. Do it immediately.

Pitch yourself as someone who can write guest blog posts for similar, but not competitive, companies. Offer free how-to content from your website to other relevant sites. You get a link back to your site and the host site gets free content. Everyone’s happy.

If you have members registered on your site, make sure you communicate with them regularly. Send out a weekly newsletter offering them tips or industry news with links back to your site. Design the newsletter so the reader has to go back to the site to read more.

Be seen in the right places, says Tim Stone, VP of Marketing, EMEA, Polycom: “The key to digital marketing is making sure your company and its advocates are present where your prospects are looking. You need to be in their ‘watering holes’ by being part of their social communities, blogs and publications.”

These are the sponsored ads which pop up when you perform an internet search. If someone clicks, you pay. If they don’t click, you don’t pay. The important thing is to make sure you send the clicker to the right place and give them something they want when they get there.

If you don’t want to go down the paid-for online advertising route make sure your site gets seen organically by using the right words and phrases. More importantly, make sure your content is fresh and dynamic. Remember that search engines are cleverer than they were and will sniff a trick a mile off.

It might not be an obvious thing to do but if your company offers a service then consider making and uploading how-to videos to attract new customers and build an online community of fans and potential clients.

The name of your website is imperative to the success of your online business. Here is a list of 5 top tips to help you choose the right domain name.
1. Identify your niche - using Google's keyword tool or a similar method, research the top keywords used within your niche or market and look to incorporate some of these into your domain name. If you are creating a cookery product, look at words like cooking, kitchen, recipe, cookery.
2. Make it easy to read and type - having a name which is easy to type with no numbers and letters replacing words is easier to remember by your visitors than something which takes time to insert one letter at a time as it doesn't make sense. Look at common words and popular issues, products. Don't make your site name so long it takes a visitor several times to look at it written down to get it right. The shorter, the better.
3. Select a dot com name - using a.com ending is more universally recognised and related to worldwide than a .co.UK or .eu and can help in promoting your product and site as it is easier to remember. Although there are quite a few available site endings, the.com is the most common.
4. Do what you say you do - if you have a website named "Perfect Presents For Dogs", make sure you do what it says on the tin. Exceed your customers' expectations and you will receive repeat income, gain an excellent reputation and obtain a trust relationship with you website visitors. If you don't deliver what you offer and lull your visitor into a false sense of expectation, you will lose out on future benefits and opportunities.
5. Use attractive but unique words - by identifying positive and compelling words you can attract visitors to your site. Make it obvious what your site is about and avoid any tricks or wordplay. Use words associated with your market and easy to relate to. Think about the alphabet and listings in advertisements. What can you remember from sites you have seen, commercials on TV, logos and branding or phrases linked to famous products, personalities and companies.
All of these aspects need to be taken into consideration when choosing your domain name as it could make or break your website.

Ensure your website address is added to all of your literature, social media links such as Facebook and Twitter. List it at the end of your emails when sending out advertising. Request comments and feedback from friends, family and business associates to get advice on the ease of remembering and typing into address bars.

Online file sending websites are the easiest way to share big files on the internet. Just enter your email address, the recipient's email address, attach the file and click "send". The recipient will receive the email from you (not from a generic 'no-reply' email address!), and be able to easily click the link to download the file.
Students would be in a panic, worried that they would not be able to send their project work to the professor by a deadline. Using these websites, students can send large files quickly to keep on schedule and with big deadlines around the corner you can't afford any bumps in the road. If you need to send large files such as photos, videos, presentations or terms papers - email can let you down when it's crunch time.
Customers will have faced one of these frustrating situations:
- Their file is larger than their permitted attachment size; or
- Their email system won't accept it; or
- The recipient's email system won't accept it; and
- They receive the dreaded "bounce-back" email.
Alternatives like FTP systems are too complex, costly and physical delivery of files on a USB drive is expensive and usually will cause undue delays for their business.
Finding an online file sending service is a simple solution for large file sharing that's quick, easy and secure. Simply upload the file to a secure server and an email is sent with a link to your client or prospective customer that allows them to download it whenever they wish. That's an email with no large attachments, so you don't need to worry. You can send large files without the stress of wondering if they ever received the documents you promised and you avoid the arguments with your IT department over email security.
Ensure the website you are using encrypt in transit and in storage. Certain websites protect files during transit and at rest on their servers. Ensure that all communications are encrypted using either Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocols and up to AES 256-bit encryption.

How could YouTube video can be improved upon.
1.  Always make sure the sounds areat an appropriate level. That is to say that they are loud enough for anyone to hear. Often times, the sounds are awful. Fortunately, my friend's sound is adequate in portions.

2.  Have someone else hold the camera or use a tripod. This way, the camera will not shake and you will have a clear picture if the camera is focused correctly.

3.  Dress for success. What does this mean? Wear something appropriate that complements your complexion. If you are into what colors mean, you know what I am talking about. Here wear a color that goes well with your complexion and means what you are trying to say. Like, "I am happy." or "I mean business" for just a couple of examples. You might ask, "What color would I wear to show happy?" You might wear yellows or another bright color to complement your complexion. For business, we all know a dark conservative color does the trick.

4.  Smile. Sometimes we get used to looking stern because of our jobs or positions in life. We think we must look so serious while not realizing that that look sticks with us. That stern look becomes our natural. Have you ever gone to the grocery store not really thinking of anything negative and someone passes you and states, "Smile, things can't be that bad!" and you look up and began to smile while at the same time thinking to yourself that you must have had an evil or sad look on your face.

5.  Comb your hair. Even if you just took your hat off take your hand and brush you strands the best you can.

6.  Have fun or look like you are enjoying yourself. People tend to watch videos of people doing something crazy or stupid. So even though your video is about why you want to do something; have fun showing it on video do not make it look like a chore. So go ahead have fun doing it.

7.  Try to tape somewhere withoutbackground noise. Unless that's what you want. Let's say you want the roar of the sea or the people playing volleyball in the background. You don't want the competition of voices in your background.

8.  Set you video up so people are willing to give you feedback on your project.

9.  Make sure you read all the rules and title your video correctly according to the contest rules, if it's a contest you are entering.

10.    Use a video editor that you are familiar with and know how to use.

Google AdSense provides revenue-sharing to all size websites who place ads for goods and services. These ads are relevant to the content on the site, and targeted at the site's users. A small amount is paid to the site owner when the ad is clicked on.
Google's main source of revenue is earned by allowing advertising on their search result pages. This source is called AdWords, which is a pay-per-click marketing form. These ads, called Sponsored Results, are above the list of organic results, and on the right margin of the page. Advertisers with AdWords pay per click in this system, which is based on auctions for which the highest bidder with the highest quality ad gets the first spot.
The very same AdWords can be displayed on an independent website by the program, AdWords. The owner gets approximately 68% of the click, with Google receiving the remainder.
Simply put, the website owner displays the ads and gets paid when people click the ad (and sometimes view it).
The per-click commission is dependent on how much the advertiser rate is for the particular ad. These earnings range from 2 cents to $15 per click, with the majority being under $1. Google does not disclose a range or estimate because of the organic nature of the structure.
This being said, some topics do pay more. Highly competitive keywords such as: make money, sex, etc. can earn more per click because of the high search count. The more competitive the keyword results are the more advertisers will pay.
Google does not reveal how much the owner receives for each ad, but the overall total earned can be viewed at any time. You can do the math to get a per-click average for a set time period.
First you will need to make an AdSense account. Then associate this account with your Custom Search Engine Account. Follow this process:
1.  Go to AdSense and sign in.
2.  Click on My Ads in the upper left corner.
3.  Create a new Ad unit: Go to Content>Ad Units, and click the + New Ad Unit button.
4.  Name the ad unit. Standard formatting is best for managing data.
5.  Pick a size.
6.  Set the ad type.
7.  Create a Custom channel. This allows ad grouping and location on the page.
8.  Create the ad style. Best practice is to make it go with your website.
9.  Click the Save and Get Code button to receive the HTML code for your site.
10.    Paste the code in your site's HTML development area. If you need help, visit Google's code implementation process.

A blog can be very beneficial for your business, although there are still a lot of people who don't utilize blogs. A blog is similar to a news outlet for your business, any updates, changes, or improvements that you make can be posted on your blog and broadcast ed to your whole reader base.
Throughout this article we'll go through the benefits of having a blog and exactly how you can get started.
Many business owners might see a blog as an unnecessary addition to a business, it might not bring in much extra revenue and just wouldn't be worth the time.
Expand your readership - this is probably the biggest benefit you are going to get from a blog. Your readership is so important because it's a signal that shows how many people are interested in what you are offering. This will lead to an increase in sales and revenue.
Be seen as an "industry-leader" - if you post good content on your blog then people will keep coming back to read more. The more your readership expands you more you are seen as an "industry-leader" i.e. a trusted source of authority within your industry.
Google loves content - that's right, Google loves fresh content - you know, the content that you'll be posting on your blog! This means that if you're currently doing SEO then the results are only going to get better by having a blog.
Getting started is simple and can take you just a few hours, maybe not even that! If you already have a fully functioning website you could simply add a new page which will be used for your blog, we won't go into all the technical details here.

Start off by creating some content on a subject that you're knowledgeable about, make these articles "pillar articles". This means they should be in-depth and informative, the word count should be as high as you can get it! A good number to shoot for is around 2,000 words, this might seem like a lot so make sure that you properly follow the advice and guidance given above. It might help if you stick to more general topics at first so there is more information that you can cram in there.

How to use links the right way....

1) Links should never say, Click Here, they should be 2-5 words at most. They should relate to, what's on the other side of the link, IE: (You can to learn, Play Just like the pro's, You can download Her Naughty Picture etc.).
2) Your link should STAND out, Should have different colors for (active, visited, hover)
3) Home page links should be pragmatic, (Dealing with things sensible and realistically)
4) Don't make your readers guess where they have to go, Have them know, that if they click that link, it will take them to the page the link is telling them.
5) Make links go from general too specific.
6) Use your log files to see what your users are searching for, then use the most commonly used words for your links.
7) Use title tags to help your users know where they are going.
( title = Anchor text )
8) Try and use a first person approach. IE: (I want you to go_______________.)
9) Don't force a new window to open when your user clicks a link. They know how to use their back button.

10) This is by far is the most important lesson, TEST YOUR LINKS. Once you're finished writing your links, test them in different browsers. Make sure they go where you want them to go and there are no broken links. Dead links or links going to the wrong section can cause you to lose a lot of money.

The world of internet marketing and affiliate marketing, a blog is more often used to generate traffic and sales for products, either owned by the blog creator or products created by others and sold as an affiliate marketer.

1. Be unique - choose a niche or market you have an interest in, have a look around at other similar blogs and create your own in your own style. Copying others can be a dangerous game as you need to have your own identity, not duplicating others or posts, etc.
2. Give your best - do not short change your readers or followers. They will see through you and lose interest. Always provide your best material, and then some!
3. Remain focused - stay on the subject and market you are promoting. Do not diversify or wander off track as your followers will also lose interest. Provide relevant information, advice and guidance which will benefit others.
4. Encourage participation - ask your readers or followers to leave comments and get involved in your subject matter. Ask for feedback and their opinion on your posts.
5. Network - request input from other bloggers in a similar niche or a guest blog from a renowned blogger or internet marketer. Their followers can then link into your blog. Use social media to get your name out there.
6. Maximise SEO - research your keywords using a reputable analytical tool to find out the best performing and common keywords linked to your market and ensure such keywords are included in your blog posts
7. Be consistent and keep going - it is often disheartening and difficult to keep going at the beginning fo your blog creation but it takes time to build content. Consistency is the key with regular posts and quality content. Above all don't give up.
8. Collect contact details - always request the readers or visitors email address at least, if possible their first name, to use in future marketing campaigns and to make further offers. This is known as building your list.
9. Research your niche - be an expert in your field and know what you are talking about. Be open to questions and if you don't know an answer, say that. Find out and report back.
10. Get to the point - if you are writing to provide a guide give it. Don't beat about the bush and write about nothing. Answer the question, list the tips, identify the benefits and address the issues, and more.

Blog creation and writing posts can be very rewarding, especially if you learn of others' success due to your support or advice. Being inspirational and helping others gain success can result in your own success
